Son of Croatian immigrants, who immigrated to Australia in 1962, Mate Antolos was born in 1971 in Melbourne, Australia. On completing university, Mate (pronounced ‘Mateh’) worked in the family textile business. When his father passed, he became his mother’s sole carer, which is where writing found him, and he self-published his first set of short stories under the pseudonym Mate Solotna. After the passing of his mother in 2023, he began a novel, The Uneasy Silence, published in 2024. Then in 2025 came his second publication The Fall and this year the third in the Muravic series The Child Soldiers of Melbourne.
