Ian J. McNiven is Professor of Indigenous Archaeology in Monash Indigenous Studies Centre, Monash University. He is also a Chief Investigator in the new ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Environmental Histories and Futures. Ian is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities and the Royal Anthropological Institute. He is recipient of the Australian Archaeological Association’s Rhys Jones Award for Outstanding Contributions to Australian Archaeology. Ian has authored 17 books and over 200 academic papers on Indigenous archaeology. He has worked with over 50 Indigenous communities in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
