Pick up your pen or keyboard, entries for the 2026 Mayor’s Short Story Writing Awards are open!

Now in its sixth year, the awards celebrate and support local emerging writers of all abilities across the Mornington Peninsula. If you’re aged 8 or over, start writing your story.

Once again, Western Port Writes is thrilled to be the Shortlist Committee Partner for 18+ entries. The judging panel comprises notable writers Coral Vass (8-12); Megan Rogers (13-17); Sophie Laguna, Brendan James Murray and Jaclyn Crupi (Adults 18+).

Entries close: Midnight, 30 June
