Join Kate Legge, author of Delicious, for afternoon tea and a conversation with award-winning journalist Belinda Hawkins.
Together with our friends at Shoreham Community Association, we’re delighted to welcome you to a warm afternoon of words, and a delicious afternoon tea.
Join us by the fire at the cosy Shoreham Community Hall on Sunday 30 August at 2pm and hear award-winning journalist and author Kate Legge in conversation with international journalist Belinda Hawkins. Kate’s latest book, Delicious: Stories of Cooking, Love and Friendship, explores friendships and food, and we’ll be celebrating some of the beautiful recipes in the book, with a splendid afternoon tea and refreshments.
‘The idea for Delicious came to me while reading a recipe for an Aunt Maggie’s tea cake in the dentist waiting room’, says Kate. ‘I wondered who was this woman…and thought of all the recipes handed down to me by friends and family, and how these scraps of paper are biographical snippets. Food and friendships salve our hunger and soothe our troubles.’
Kate Legge stated her career at The Age as a cadet, and has covered people, politics and social affairs in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Washington DC. She has published two novels, a historical biography, and a remarkably candid collection of personal essays, Infidelity and Other Affairs, published in 2025
Award-winning journalist Belinda Hawkins was a reporter with ABC and SBS for almost 40 years, as a foreign correspondent across the globe. For 20 years to 2024 she worked on the much-loved ABC TV program Australian Story.
Come along and hear Kate and Belinda talking friendships, food and life. Then join us for a Delicious afternoon tea.
Petersen’s Bookstore will be joining us for book sales and signings on the day.
